The Rebel (The Moorehouse Legacy #1) by Jessica Bird, J.R. Ward

NOTE: This is a re-issue of BEAUTY AND THE BLACK SHEEP Book 1 from the Moorehouse Legacy series.

Nate Walker has never shied away from the hard road. Even when it meant leaving behind his family, wealth, and the fiance who only wanted a rich man. Nothing was going to stop him from opening his own five-star restaurant.

And he was on his way until his car broke down on a dark road in the Adirondacks, leading him right to White Caps Inn and Frankie Moorehouse.

Suddenly Nate has a job he doesn't really need and an affair that has to end when summer does. Except Frankie has a way about her. She gets under his skin. She even makes him want to do what he never thought he could stay forever.

It was page 35 that Frankie had me talking to the book asking "are you crazy" and it didn't get better for a few more pages. Frankie's chief quits at the beginning of the book and when Nate volunteers to stay and be her chief she jumps for joy cause she could burn water. Sorry I lied to you she tells him she doesn't need him but she does cause the other part of that sentence was the truth. Frankie can't cook she save her life or the bed & breakfast she owns. I was totally annoyed because at the first of the book Frankie is wishing someone would come and help her so she didn't have to be the one to have all the answers all the time. Nate shows up willing to help and take some of the burden from her and she rejects his help and is rude to the man. Several times to just to the wrong conclusion without waiting to get the whole story first. Finally Nate gets Frankie to let him stay and his cooking starts to save the failing restaurant. Nate I did like from the start not like Frankie that had to grow on me. Nate has some issues with kids that this cute little boy helps solve with his chatter and that was so sweet to read and one of my favorite scences. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the others to be re-issued in the end Nate and Frankie had a sweet story. The Rebel sets up the stories for the other books so if you are thinking about reading the others you need to pick this one up first.
